Make note on how the old guard return spring is attached. You will have to remove the guard to replace it.

Broken lower guard and worn spring

To remove the guard. Remove the blade bolt, blade and both the outer and inner washer. Then if you have snap ring pliers use them to remove the snap ring, if you don\'t have the pliers you can remove it with a small screwdriver. Notice how the spring is attached to the lower guard and upper guard. Remove the lower guard then replace it an d the spring. Then replace all the other part in reverse order.

1. Disassembled the handle to expose the part.
2. Cut out the old part and matched the wire color.
3. Soldered the wire connections.
4. Reassembled the saw.
