This is an authentic Milwaukee part that is OEM sourced to ensure a high-quality standard. The sealed bearing is intended to be used with random orbital palm sanders. The bearing is used to limit friction between the fixed bearing cup in the brake pad and the rotating motor shaft. This item is available as an individual replacement part.
Remove the pad. Remove the bearing/pad mounting bracket. There is a screw with a collar that hold the bearing against the drive spindle. Also use a small flat top screw driver through one of the vent holes in between the fins of the suction to keep the spindle from turning so that you can remove the hold down screw. ... Read moree on two small pieces of wood with the center open, take a socket that will fit in the center hole and cover most of the exposed bearing. Using a hammer, drive the old bearing out. Insert the new bearing in the recessed location, using the hammer tap around the plate to seat the bearing flush with the mounting plate. It has to be flush or the pad won\'t align properly. The rest kind of depends on the make and model of your sander.
Remove sanding pad. Requires torx screwdrivers
Remove retainer screw, then bearing housing
Knock out old bearing with wood dowel and hammer
Insert new bearing and press in place with vice and wood block
Replace housing, retainer screw and sanding pad.
