This spring-governor is an OEM part which is designed for Briggs and Stratton engines that are commonly installed on a variety of lawn and garden equipment. It applies tension on the governor. The governor system is like a cruise control system. It maintains the speed by adjusting the carburetor. Over time it may wear out and stretch eventually requiring a replacement. It is made of a high-quality metal and is sold as an individual component. Refer to the diagrams for your model for the exact location and the correct installation of this hardware. You may need a screwdriver to remove the air filter to gain access and replace the old part.
