This is a genuine OEM replacement part used with Abu Garcia Ambassadeur fishing reels. The base drag washer secures the drive shaft through the drive gear. This metal item distributes even pressure over the surface and provides a solid grip for the shaft. This part is sold individually. A screwdriver is needed to make the proper removal and replacement.

braided line was slipping.

I thought it was my drag. After replacing the drag parts it was still slipping. I discovered that the braided line will slip on the spool if it is the only string on the reel. I replaced the braided line but first I used about 20 yards of monofilament. that fixed the braided line from slipping.

The pinion got stripped, it also damaged the main gear,

To replace the drag washers, you only have to disassemble the handle side of the reel by removing three outer screws and two internal ones. Pay very close attention to the order that the parts come off or you might be able to find a how to video on you tube.
