1. Remove the screw camp from top of level wind
2. Remove the Pilot Guide form inside of level wind pilot shaft
3. Remove the non-handle side of reel
4. Remove retainer holding worm gear in plain
5. Remove worm gear
6. Install new worm gear
7. Re-install retainer holding worm gear (be sure the line gui
... Read morede remains in the bottom grove)
8. Re-install reel side
9. Install new coil spring in screw cap
10. Install new pilot guide - gently slide back in while rotating worm gear to match groves
11. Re-install screw cap (be careful not to let coil spring to fall out when re-installing)
12. Use light weight reel oil on worm gear
1. Remove reel from rod
2. Remove side plate from reel
3. Pull out worm shaft
4. Remove pilot guide (BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE PILOT GUIDE THE COIL SPRING IS TINY.
Unscrew cap on bottom of level wind apparatus, drop out old pilot guide and spring, slip new guide on bottom of level wind apparatus, insert spring into screw on cap, screw cap onto level wind.
