This knee joint is a genuine replacement part sourced directly from Husqvarna. It is compatible for use with many models of chainsaws. This knee joint It is made of metal and plastic. It should be replaced if it is broken. A screwdriver is needed for the replacement of this part. It does not include the pin (part 503892901).
Read carefully the owner\'s manual procedure for removing cover BEFORE removing cover from chainsaw! ... Read moreoing to back in place without some tool to reset the safety brake which had not been properly set before disassembly. Brute force was not the answer. Broke the plastic spring guide ( aka knee joint) in several attempts to force said spring back in place. Frustration led to you tube videos in what not to do and what one should do. Improvised sprocket to reset the brake and used the replacement knee joint to effect the repair. Took 20 minutes to make the tool, and five minutes to put the assembly back together.
Removed the old parts and installed the new parts. Very easy job to complete.
The hardest part was putting the spring in place. To compress the spring , I used a medium sized flat screw driver and placed it in the end of the spring so it screw driver went part way in the spring and the wider part was able to push on the spring and w
