Pretty simple the person using the saw did not turn it off when he heard a change in the saw operational sound. Looked up the order of parts , (ie muffler, heat shield, mtg plate ) and where the gasket was inserted. Replaced air filter while servicing. The oil cap retaining cord had broken so it was replaced.

Bolt to muffler broke, other bolt loose. Muffler came off.
Had my brother tap out the broken bolt. He is a miracle worker!

I had to remove carb and exhaust first then the cyl and piston. Then I reversed the order to put back together. Note my chainsaw was a Jonsered the carb throat needs to be on cylinder assembly before putting on the crankcase.
