Nutdriver, Gloves - because the grill was very dirty!
Grill stopped working - no light - after youtube search I discovered it could be either the controller, the element, or both.
1. Removed controller by using hands to pull it out
2. Removed element by unscrewing 2 bolts, one on inside and one on outside using nut driver (9/16" I think??). Saved the nuts because the new element did not come with new ones.
3. Cleaned bottom of grill including the drip pan - very dirty job!
4. Inserted new element - had to finagle a bit, but got it - screwed the old nuts onto the bolts
5. Inserted new controller by pushing it into the element
6. Plugged it in to check - and it worked!

Char-broil electric grill controller went out
I removed the controller it just plugs into the heating element , then I removed two screws that hold the heating element in and replaced it with the new one it was a very easy task only took about 15 minutes and a lot cheaper than buying a new grill.

Pliers, Needle nose pliers, really all you need.
Electric element cracked, it was over four years old.
1. Removed the bolts from the old electric element.
2. Separated it from the rheostat (The heat thingy for the non-technical).
3. Applied the old bolts to secure the new electric element.
4. Pushed in the old rheostat into place.
Plugged in the grill and it heated up right away.
I had a socket set, screw drivers at the ready. All that was really needed was a decent needle nose pliers or even regular pliers to take off the bolts. One tool, that's it.

Wrong Part
Ordered the screw connection and was sent the one that connects into a slot.
Would have been an easy install, if i was sent the right part to begin with.
