Flipped the lawn mower over to release the broken end of the cable. Pulled the cable housing out. Couldn't get my pliers up to the bottom of the cap to remove the connector so I used a drill to remove it since I was throwing it out anyway. Replaced the cable and reconnected to the end and set the lawn mower back up. Used a screw driver to take apart the hand controls and reattached the top end.....

Self propelled handle went slack, self propelled became inoperable

    Lawn Mower

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

    Screwdriver, Pliers, Cold beverage

    1. Took top section of self-propelled handles off of mower and realized they weren't broke, thats when the rest of the cable came up from the rear of mower deck. Realized cable broke near bottom,
    2.Found part number online, ordered.
    3. Correct cable arrived, replaced cable. Took me about 30-45 minutes. Would have been shorter time if you have younger eyes than mine, also wouldn't hurt to have one extra hand to hold things in place or line them up as you are going back together.
All in All, better to replace a $35 cable than a $500 mower.
