Question: Bosch 1617 Evs

104079

I tried to remove the armature bearing with screwdrivers, as described in the ereplacement video, and the plastic part below the bearing got deformed and chipped. I would not have tried it, but the part looked like metal. Anyway, will this cause the armature to be unbalanced or cause any other problems? Is that plastic part available?
Thanks
WJA

Hello 104079,

If the plastic part you are referring to is the fan on the end off the 2610934201 armature, unfortunately the manufacture does not supply this as a replacement part and a new armature would have to be ordered. If it was on the opposite side of the fan and the small plastic piece was not damaged to bad. You should be okay.

Question: Installing Power Switch

RHinson

I use the router in a table mounted configuration. The router was running fine, but I had not inspected the brushes since I bought it about 8 years ago (useage hours about 100). I gained access to the brushes and they were fine, so I reassembled and attempted to turn it on. It would not turn on at all. I have ordered a new switch which I have not received yet. I have accessed the switch and note one connection is soldered. Can anyone offer tips on installing this switch.

Hi RHinson,
One common problem that happens on routers when they are bench mounted is they get a build up of fine dust particles around the brush tubes and when you take the brushes out the dust particles fall into the brush tubes. When you place the brushes back in to the tubes the dust gets jammed between the brush tubes and the brushes. This keeps the brush from making contact with the armature.
Try taking the brushes out again and with compressed air blow the brush tubes and surrounding area free of dust and dirt. Then try reinserting the brushes in the tubes and see if that fixes the problem.Hope that helps .Good luck.

Question: Vac Adapter For Router Table Use

drm179@aol

Is there a vacuum adapter, to fit in the space where the shield is located, on a 1617evs router when it is used in a router table?
Question: Dont Turn On

john hubbard

My router won't power on. It quit working suddenly. No prior problems. The brushes look good. Any help is appreciated very much. Merry x-mas.

Probably the switch, I have four of these routers and the same thing happened at about the same time with all of them.

You can take the switch apart really carefully and blow out the sawdust. It gets built up and doesn't allow the switch to make contact to turn on the router. I wish Bosch would install dust proof switches.

Most likely the switch, mine went bad and was turned on only 50 times. You can use an ohmmeter to check across the contacts of the switch. I removed the top piece and pulled the switch out as far as I could and tapped on it. Then I saw the ohmmeter change to 0.
Review: Bosch - 1617EVS Bosch Roter Moto...

My 1617 EVS router motor just will not start. The plug looks ok. I took the cap off the housing and the wires look solidly connected. I bought it as a reconditioned kit. After about 20 hours of use I had trouble turning it on. Then it would not come on. I took it to a local tool repair guy that I have used for 20 years. 1st he sent for the wrong part put then finally fixed it. I used it for a total of about 12 hours and now it will not come on again. I am upset. I thought maybe I should just get the motor since I built a router table and other set ups around this model, but they do not seem to be available for less $ than a whole new router. Maybe the motor is rebuilt because someone dropped it in the ocean or something, but it looks brand new, it just will not come on.
