Product Description ?

Genuine OEM Replacement Part used on some Makita Saws. This part is Sold Individually. A switch handles the on/off and variable speed functions. They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement.

Split the handle/trigger assembly. Watch for spring at bottom of trigger its under load. Make a wiring diagram of the wires. You may want to take a picture of the internal parts of the handle. Remove cord clamp. Disconnect the wires from the old switch and attach them to the new switch. Replace the cord clamp. Put the handle back together.

BE SURE TO UNPLUG YOUR SAW BEFORE STARTING THIS REPAIR.
Remove the two screws on the armature cover and slide cover off. This will expose the Controller. It just sits in there in a cradle type notch. Wiggle it out and remove one wire at a time from the old Controller on the saw and connect the new wires each time. This will ensure that the wires are properly connected.
The long red wire leading to the switch requires disassembly of the handle. After removing the handle screws, CAREFULLY take the trigger assembly apart. There is a tiny spring at the bottom end of the safety bar that will be hard to find if you lose it.
Attach the long red wire to the switch and reassemble in reverse order.
Your saw will start smoothly and run like brand new!

Took central nut off, miter guide, then lifted of table. Cleaned, and lubed with silicone spray. Replaced spring, reused old ball bearing. Reassembled, not over tightening nut. Much smoother now.
Also replaced switch to fix electronic brake issue. Fixed. Tip: Take a picture of the wires before disassembling.
Also changed bellows on back. Easy, except saw had been dropped and plate was bashed. Had to straighten. Little screws prone to stripping, but I made it work without stripping.

My Makita mitre saw is so old they stopped making the switch for that model. The saw is in great shape so I ordered a switch for a newer model. The new switch was a little larger, but with some alterations to the inside of the handle I got it to sit in place and it works like the old one.
The only difference is that the blade brake no longer works. But I saved the saw from the trash.
