Motors

If your motor is shorted out in your bench grinder, it can trip the circuit breaker of the power source and you will have trouble getting it to work. The motor is connected to the capacitor and will need to be replaced.

Power Cords

A cut, bare and/or a shorted cord can trip the circuit breaker of the power. To prevent this from happening, make sure to replace the cord on your bench grinder. Before installing a new cord, remove the cord clamp by removing the retaining screws. Now you can lift the cord and switch the assembly out of the handle as well as disconnect the cord from the switch. Once the cord is pulled from the grinder, you are ready to install a new cord. Tip: trim the new cord wires before reassembling your grinder.
If your extension cord on your bench grinder extends for too long then it can trip the circuit board to the power source. To replace this part, remove the retaining screws to remove the cord clamp. Tip: make sure to trim the new cord wires before reassembling your grinder to ensure it is the right size and fit.

Switches

If the on and off switches on your bench are shorted, it can trip the circuit breaker of the power source. This can affect all the other appliances you have plugged in your home or work area once it turns the whole system off. To install a new switch, first disconnect wires from the old switch and reconnect it with the new one. Now you can screw in the switch and make sure it is secured. Tip: test the switch to ensure it works.

Capacitor

If the switch and motors are working well, but your bench grinder trips the circuit breaker of the power source, then check the capacitor. If there is a failure, replace the capacitor by removing wires with a pair of pliers and reconnect them to the new one.
