I filled my blower vac with the wrong gas as I have three different fuel cans for the various pieces of equip that I own. The piston ceased up and the I was going to just toss it and buy a new one. However, a friend told me it was an easy fix so I decided to give it a try.

I reviewed a video that ereplacement parts had on installing new pistons which was quite helpful and then tackled the job. It took me a couple hours to tear down and then rebuild and was pretty simple. Putting the case back on at reconnecting the throttle cable was the most tricky part but just took a bit of fiddling.

After a few pulls it started up and is running better than it did when new. It would not run well at full throttle and after looking at the old piston, I think the rings may have been a problem for some time.

Blower wouldn\'t stay started. Bog down when applying throttle

To fix my bogging problem I bought a carburetor and a complete kit to rebuild the throttle bottle assembly. To further maintenance the blower, I thought I would check the spark arrestor and make sure the exhaust port was not clogged, which entailed removing the exhaust muffler. Well, depending on the age of your small engine, the exhaus t screws will seize into the motor cylinder and applying torque to remove them only results in breaking off the bolt head, which is what I did. So, I had to by an engine cylinder assembly. Job took about 2 hours but if you are handy with a wrench, make sure you keep of with the screws and take pictures, this was a easy job. In short, my blower runs new again. For about 30 dollars, I have extended the life of this unit for at least 5 more season, or more.
