This item is sourced from the original manufacturer to be used with hedge cutters, trimmers, gas-powered drills, and pruners from Echo and Shindaiwa. This item is used to provide spacing and to deflect heat between the carburetor and the cylinder. This item is available as an individual replacement part.
I decided to replace the primer, clean the carburetor, and replace gaskets.
GÇó Take off the cover and spark plug boot.
GÇó Disconnect fuel lines from carb, and loosen carb to remove the choke and throttle cable.
GÇó Open carb and clean the internal parts using aerosol carburetor cleaner.
GÇó Reassemble carburet
... Read moreor using the gaskets in the kit and attach choke, throttle cable, and fuel lines.
GÇó Reassemble the air cleaner and install the gaskets and put the cover back on.
Runs good now!
Remove the air cleaner assembly. Then remove the screws securing the carburetor. And remove the carburetor and gasket. Remove the screws from the cracked insulator, then install the new one. Install the parts that you removed in reverse order and you\'re done.
With the new parts I ordered. I was a fairly simple fix. Make sure to order the gasket kit ,too. Also if it\'s and older machine buy new gas line kit. While the carb is off you should change the lines.

Trimmer had broke during a fall and sat for over 4 years not being used.
1. Removed part assemblies to get to broken insulator.
2. Replaced gaskets as necessary.
3. Re-assembled.
4. Primed engine and trimmer started right away.
