1. Removed bump knob and spool from line holder
2. inserted screw driver into locking hole on trimmer head.
3. spent 10 minutes remembering it was left hand threaded:)
4. Removed line housing from trimmer shaft.
5, Removed broken piece of old shield that was bolted to trimmer head.
6. Installed new shield.
7. Re-assembled trimmer head assembly with steps above in reverse order.

Removed trimmer line spool.cut retention ring with small cutter.used a makeshift puller to remove upper housing from shaft.unbolted shield and replaced with new one.pressed upper housing on shaft and replaced retention ring on shaft with new one.Finally opened air filter housing and replaced air filter with new one.
