1. Removed the trim line safety shield by removing the screw, then pulling off the shield.
2. Unscrewed the assembly attached to the weedwhacker shaft.
3. Used two adjustable wrenches to loosen the shaft off of the metal cord inside the shaft (be careful. Only apply the adjustable wrench to the hard metal parts. Requires a lit tle muscle.)
4. Attach the new spool assembly and reverse the process.

Spool housing bent and detached from drive shaft

1. Removed compression bolt and screw from end of drive shaft, and pulled end out to expose connection point between drive shaft and spool housing.
2. Using adjustable wrench to hold one end of broken spool shaft, used pliers to loosen and completely unscrew the assembly from the drive shaft. This step is greasy.
3. Removed ol d broken spool housing and inserted new one.
4. Screwed new spool housing in place and tightened using wrench/pliers
5. Re-seated drive shaft end into place and replaced compression bolt and screw.
6. Good as new.

1. Removed old spool from the business end of a trimmer.
2. Disassembled drive end (Allen wrench, Phillips screw, pliers, and a punch)
3. Punched out old shaft from drive end bearings
4. Insert new spool holder
5. Reassembled business end
6. Install new spool loaded with string (already on hand)
7. Plug ged in and cut grass

Take the cap off and removed the spool. Used a driver to uninstall the housing. Installed the housing and put the spool and cap back together.

Removed trimmer head and drive cable from shaft. Unscrewed cable from housing. Removed cable from housing. Installed new housing on cable. Reinserted cable into shaft and secured housing to shaft. Popped in loaded spool and sent my granddaughter to work. Lol.
