I installed the spring and cover by lining up the tabs on the side of the cover to the spool cover and pressing it in. Then I used the parts that were still in the shaft to install the new handle.
The old handle came off so there was no removal, the new handle is much more substantial. The installation is easy, just push in the buttons on both sides of the trimmer and snap the new handle in place.
1. Removed old handle by pushing in button with screwdriver and sliding off handle.
2. Installed new handle by pushing in button with screwdriver and sliding on handle.
