The on and off switch was broken, the table saw could not be turned off without unplugging. When you plugged it in the switch was always on even when you turned it to the off position.

I chose to remove the whole switch and the cords connected to the table saw so I could have an easy access. Then I removed the back of the switch and disconnected the cords plugged into the switch. I then removed the switch from the housing and inserted the new switch. I connected the wires, plugged the saw back in and tested the on and o ff switch. This worked so I then reconnected the switch and electrical cord to the table saw. Great fix!

1. Removed red, plastic, quick shut off flap by prying the two pivot flanges out from the pins on which it swivels with a screw driver - hoping that I wasn\'t going to break off one of the flanges causing me to spend another $38 on another little piece of plastic.
2. Removed the two machine screws from the plastic frame that holds t he switch in place and pulled the switch and frame and attached 4 wires out from the body of the planer. Not much extra wire to play with so I marked the wires and pulled them free from the metal tabs on the back of the broken switch. I was now able to separate the old switch from the frame (had to break the small plastic pieces on the back of the old switch which held the switch to the frame).
3. Inserted the new switch into the frame.
4. attached the wires to the proper tabs as I had marked.
5. Pushed the frame and switch back into the body of the planer and reinserted the two screws holding the frame to the body of the planer
6. All worked well after
