This item is the hard rubber tire that fits onto the friction wheel and is used to rotate the friction disc. Overtime this item can wear down and need to be replaced to make good contact with the friction disc. This item is available as an individual replacement part.

Snowblower drive wheels would not turn

Removed the lower cover to access bottom of the snowblower. Removed the snow chute control arm to gain access to drive axle. Removed drive axle by lightly tapping with a hammer to drive out the bearing. Removed the friction wheel from the axle and replaced the rubber portion. Reinstalled the friction wheel onto the axle and reinstalled th e axle into the housing. Reattached snow chute mechanism and bottom cover. Started up snowblower and checked the operation of the drive wheels.

Drive wheels did not move and return spring rusted out.

1. Removed the wheels.
2. Removed the drive axle.
3. Removed the friction wheel.
4. Replaced the friction rubber.
5. Put the friction wheel back on.
6. Put the drive axle back in.
7. Put the wheels back on.
This project would have taken half the time, but the blower was very rusty and some of the parts had to be separated using a hammer!

1. Removed the 2 bolts connected to the drive shaft/sprocket
2. Removed both bearings
3. Pulled out assembly
4. Unbolted casing and removed friction wheel
5. Reinstalled new wheel friction
6. Nothing special needed to complete

Remove covers. Remove shaft bolts

.slide shaft out then friction wheel. Place wheel on shaft,,reassemble in reverse order

It was a periodic replacement of both the auger and clutch cable and the friction wheel

Snowblower had no \"go\"

Removed the bottom plate to access the friction wheel. Had to remove the axel that held the plate in place. In order to do that, you\'ve got to remove the bushings on either side. Once out, it\'s pretty easy to replace. Snowblower has much better \"go\" now. Still a little squeaking, but I\'m thinking that\'s coming from the wheels.
