This genuine OEM replacement part used on some Makita Circular Saws. This is a Plastic Switch and it is sold individually. Switches are commonly replaced parts in power tools. A switch handles on/off and variable speed functions. They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement.
Remove the handle cover
Remove the cord clamp
Make a wiring diagram
Disconnect the wires from the switch and remove
Connect the wires to the new switch
Install the cord clamp
Install the handle cover
Removed and replaced the trigger switch and also replaced the cord. Makita sells the trigger switch P/N651189-3 without the required terminal screws so save the originals if you can. A 3mm was too small and the 4mm seemed too big but a 4mm finally won out. Got the saw that had little use as a basket case so ReplacementParts had the parts to get it back in operation. My free Makita Model: 5477NB cost me $37.00 in parts and shipping, an hours repair time for a $204.00 saw. And so end this project.
Removed the screws in the handle
Removed the switch and removed the wires from the old switch
Installed the wires on to new switch
Placed the new switch in the handle and screwed it back on
