Makita 9217SPC, variable speed sander polisher. this is a high mileage tool that is heavily depended on in my occupation as a professional boat builder. This tool functions primarily with an eight inch pad and very typically 36 grit for shaping in the rough prior to the application of fiber glass, and again after the application of glass. I have had the tool for 12 years this was the eighth set of brushes I have installed. I cross threaded the brush cap while inspecting the brushes, which created the problem of finding an extra brush cap. Removal of the cross threaded button required the careful destruction of the same. I am thankful that e replacement parts had those brush caps available and in stock as I am extremely attached to that old sander and although I have the newer model that\'s 2 years old there are a few ergonomic differences and I prefer the older model..... Thanks again.
All you need to do is remove the brush cap and take out the old brushes and put in the new ones , then put the brush caps back on.
