Removed the old one and replaced with the new one. Simple. The main thing here, I wanted to say was how easy it was to find the part on your helpful website. How you broke it down made it really easy to find and order.

Removed the worn pad by removing four screws. Then you can pull the platen off the tool. Remove the paper clamps from the old platen and attach them to the new one. Now is a good time to clean the inside of the sander with compressed air. I then placed the new dust seal on the platen and pressed the platen back on. Make sure you line the platen up with the feet the screws go into. Then I screwed the new pad to the platen.

Was quite easy and for $10, (the part and shipping total) saved a $60 sander. Flat head screwdriver was only tool required. Remove four screws in bottom of pad. Take pad and platen off. clean everything with brush, compressor and vacuum. Swap out retention springs for holding the sandpaper and re-assemble. Perfect. Don\'t loose the small felt washer that goes between the platen and the sander body.

My sander suddenly became hard to handle - like it had a mind of its own! I disassembled the bottom part of the sander and found out that the platen was damaged beyond repair.

There are 4 screws holding the platen and the backing plate. Begin by unscrewing the backing. There are two clamps mounted on the backing which can be reused if you are replacing your backing plate - save these for later installation. The platen comes off next. Be sure to clean all the debris or dust from the sander before installing you r parts. Don\'t forget to order the circular seal. The installation was very easy and self explanatory once you see the inside.

1. Removed the worn down sanding pad and broken platen.
2. I noticed that one of the brass screw holes that I screw the platen to the sander base had become loose. This was the most time consuming part of my repair to fix (and probably would never happen to anyone else).
3. After reassembling most of the sander back together, I added the dust seal to the platen, screwed the platen and the pad back to the sander.
4. Problem solved; it runs like a champ.
