This is an Authentic OEM replacement part for a DeWalt fixed base router. The purpose of the spindle lock button is to lock the spindle in place. This is made of a rubber button with a metal shaft and is an individually sold part. Never press the spindle lock button while the motor is running doing so can damage the spindle lock.

Quick & easy fix for my DW618
I removed a bit from my DW618 router and upon releasing the lock spindle lock button, it and the spring went flying across the shop. I did find the button, but the tab that limits its movement had broken off. A quick click to eReplacement Parts had the replacement button and spring at my door 3 days later.

Easy to navigate and locate the part I needed with little effort. Customer service was great and everything arrived on time and in perfect condition.
