This is an Authentic OEM replacement part for a DeWalt fixed base router. The purpose of the spindle lock button is to lock the spindle in place. This is made of a rubber button with a metal shaft and is an individually sold part. Never press the spindle lock button while the motor is running doing so can damage the spindle lock.

the lock button has a raised notch which prevents it from being pushed out of the spindle lock hsg. that notch had broken off

1. removed the spindle lock housing
2. replaced the spindle lock button - holding against the tension of the spring.
3. replaced the housing

removed 3 small machine screws, lifted off router motor end facing, put in new spring, spindle lock button, replaced/tightened machine screws, done!
3 minute job!

Loosened the part that retained the button, put button and spring in place, then tightened the retaining part.

Backed off the screws on the retaining ring, inserted the new spindle lock button, replaced the screws. Lovely to have OEM parts!

1. Remove the three screws holding on the Spindle Lock Button and spring assembly.
2. Remove the assembly from the router
3. Replace the spring and button
3. Replace the assembly, and the three screws.
4. Continue plans for world domination
