I took it apart and took pictures with my phone each step of the way. I use a magnetic dish to hold the fasteners and small metal components. While it was apart I used compressed air and a variety of brushes to remove the accumulated sawdust.
If you don\'t have much experience disassembling power tools, the key is to have a clutter -free work space, take your time, take photos, pay attention to the small details of component locations.

Being novices at tool repairs, the hardest part of the repair was getting the sander apart completely and the wires to the brush arms were in a very tight space, getting them back in place after putting the new brush arms in so the sander would close took the most time. Taking pictures while taking the sander apart would have helped us r eassemble after the repair and saved a lot of time.
The switch was the easiest part of the repair. The dust cover on the switch was worn off completely and that may be what the problem was, dust got in the switch.
We also use compressed air in a can to clean all the wood dust out which had accumulated over 8 years! The parts were good and effective and the sander runs powerfully again and really collects the wood dust. Ereplacementparts has helped us to do our own repairs and be able to use our tools a lot longer.
