The metal compression spring is made of metal and goes between the check pawl and the door. This part is available as an individual replacement and is an OEM replacement part from the manufacturer Bostitch for use in nailers. Springs can lose their tension over time and will need to be replaced. A set of pliers and a socket set may be needed when replacing this spring.
Several of the springs were replaced by using a nail punch to remove retainer pins.
Two of the springs required the use of internal snap ring pliers .
All the springs were easy to replace.
