Mixer will not turn on
Denise For model number KSM75WH1 - December 9, 2022

Hello Denise, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the Brushes for wear or damage. This could also indicate the Control Plate is faulty. Speed control plate controls both the speed of the mixer and it?s on/off function. We hope this helps!

Kithcenaid Classic Mixer: Wife had it really loaded up and it quit. Won't start at all, no response at all when turned on. Is there a thermal overload?
John For model number K45ss - April 21, 2022

Our mixer's speed control/power switch stopped working. It is great machine I feel overall, just surprised with very minimal use this would happen. Is there a solution to this?

Phase control board was easy, The control plate took some time to adjust to get all speeds to work. It seems that you have to adjust top left screw to adjust slow speed first and than the right screw for speed. The bottom screw has to be just right for shut off and on. I noticed if you just put control in it doesn\'t work, it has to be ad justed

Research how to videos. Decided problem was probably the phase control board, but in the interest of time and since the additional parts did not cost much, I also replaced the control plate and motor brushes. Note, the control plate is attached by three screws, two of which are spring loaded. Hence, their adjustment is critical. I too k close in photos of their extension or placement using a ruler so I could ensure correct reinstallation of the the replacement plate.

Most people would not try and repair this old mixer, but it was the first gift I gave my wife for our new home. We flooded in Harvey, and the mixer sat under 4 foot of water for 10 days. I cleaned it, dried it and it ran, but I could tell it needed attention. I put all new electrical parts inside and it runs, but I need to set the speed a nd switch positions. Balancing the settings is the hardest part of the rebuild.

thanks,

Craig

Removed rear cover to access old plate. Disconnected retention spring and temporarily hooked it to part of the chassis. One by one, removed wires from the old plate and connected them to the new plate. Removed 2 screws holding the old plate in place and installed new plate. Connected retention spring. Adjusted screw on plate bottom to ma ke the mixer switch off at the right switch position. Reinstalled cover plate. Mixer now works perfect!
