This Kerf plate is a genuine DeWalt replacement part. It is made of plastic with a slot in the middle for the saw blade to slide through. It has 3 screw holes on each side (6 in total) to firmly secure the kerf plate to your saw.
rnrnKerf plates (also called kerf boards) are used to prevent excessive splintering, resulting in cleaner cuts. Using the wrong kerf plate for your tool can give a rough edge to the material you’re cutting.

My circular saw needed new brushes, and my miter saw needed a new kerf plate. For the circular saw I unscrewed the cover for the motor, and removed the brushes. The kerf plate was easy just unscrew the screws and then put on the new board.

The original kerf plate had shattered into several pieces.
Remove six screws and broken plate and install the new plate with six new screws. I could have reused the old screws but I was afraid I would have to break them to get them out.
Very easy job. Parts easy to find at ereplacements
1) Kerf plate
2) Handle replacement, not a problem, just note where wires run.

... Read moreat heat or some sort of penetrating oil is required before you break off the pulley screw. The general steps of this repair are not difficult if you have a bearing puller and a press - provided you have more patience than I did.
Removed two screws holding kerf plate, replaced old plate with new, reinstalled and tightened the screws.
Removed single screw holding dust duct, replaced old duct with new; reinstalled and tightened the screw.
