I bought the K-10 carb rebuild kit and replaced the diaphragms in the carburetor. Mixed a fresh batch of 2 cycle gas and after a few pulls it started. The old air filter crumbled when I pulled it out so I replaced that too. The old one was the original from back in the late 80\'s. I also replaced the gasket in the fuel tank cap. The old s eal was melted by the gas stored in the tank for a few years without being used. Over all a very easy repair that cost around $20. The last carb repair on this tiller was at least 8-10 years ago. At that time I replaced the diaphragms too.

I disconnected the fuel hose from the carbureter, removed the fuel tank brackets, discarded all of the original rubber parts, cleaned the tank thoroghly with solvent and paper towels, threaded the new fuel line into the tank, installed the new fuel filter, installed the check valve & gasket in the fuel cap. Re-installed the tank & mountin g brackets, connected the fuel hose to the carburetor. Looks and works like new!

Air filter and on/off switch needed replacing. Parts and procedure very simple. Fuel line grommet needed in order to stop dribble from fuel tank.

Replacement of air filter and switch are obvious. Take off the old, replace with the new. (Don\'t try to solder the wire to the switch tag because it will melt the switch internal parts. Use a connector or crimp the bare wire to the tag and seal with tape or shrink wrap.) Fuel line grommet was a bit complicated because Mantis has chang ed fuel line and grommet diameter design over the years. The diameter of hole in tank and diameter of grommet might require some adjustments, depending on year of your equipment. The grommet I received did fit the tank perfectly, but the fuel line was just a bit tight fitting through the grommet. I had to work it fairly vigorously to get it through, but it did fit and works great. Tight to tank, and tight to fuel line. No leaks now.
