... Read moreur (4) retaining nuts on the Friction Ring. I use the screw driver to provide stopping leverage by placing in between two of the nuts while loosening one of the other free ones. This allows the user to loosen one nut while holding the Ring from turning while working on removing the nuts one at a time. Rotate the ring and repeat above until all four(4) retaining nuts have been removed. Note: Care should be given when using the screw drive to apply holding power on UN-protected threads near the end of the procedure.
4. If there is a circular fiber disk, be sure to reinstall it just as it came off.
5. Insure during re-installation the fore nuts are tightened.
6. Inspect your work. Correct anything that looks out of the ordinary.
7. Remove the unit from the upright position, turn gasoline one, or replace tank.
8. Enjoy!!! .....tee hee

2. Attached vise grip to keep friction ring from turning.
3. Removed 4 nuts with ratchet and socket.

Friction drive ring had to be replaced and also the mower deck drive belt replaced
Removed 5 nuts ( used vise grips to hold assembly for nut removal and replacement) did all work with mower sitting on all four wheels. Used flashlight and looked through holes at back of mower. Mowed grass with no slipping of clutch. Mission accomplished!

Belt was bad, drive disk was bad, yoke was bad and blades were worn out.
Removed the old belt, put the new one on, removed the old yoke, replaced with the new one, then removed the old drive disk, and installer the new one. Last, replaced the old blades with the new ones.
1. Shut fuel off and stood riding mower on it\'s rear end.
2. Removed existing friction ring.
3. Removed brake lining from old Friction Ring and installed on replacement part.
4. Installed replacement part.
5. Lowered mower back on wheels
6. Opened the fuel valve (in gas cap)
7. Mowed the yard.
I have a chain hoist. So I backed my mower up to it and raised it about 2ft. Then used a 1/2\" drive ratchet with 15/16 socket to hold drive wheel in place. Then used a 3/8\" drive ratchet and 1/2\" deep well socket along with a pipe for a cheater bar to break the 4 nuts (they\'re very tight if it\'s never been replaced). Once they\'re lo
... Read moreose they\'ll come off with your fingers. Then just reverse the process. Probably won\'t need the cheater bar to tighten them back. ALSO when installing the thrust washer be sure it\'s turns freely before tightening the cover plate down completely.

Remove the air filter in carburetor. Cleaned all parts including needle and seat. Replaced gaskets and air filter install carburetor. Installed plug period tilted engine tilted mower at a new place friction ring on transmission. At a gas with stable.
