I removed the blade and clutch pack to replace the main drive belt. The rest of the drive system was easy , i just had to remove one wheel to get to the rest of the system. The replacement parts are good quality. Hopefully they well last 43 years like the originals I replaced on my 1974 Snapper 21 with Wisconsin Robins engine

It is simple to replace this ring. Two springs (together) and one nut holds the assembly on the mower. After removal there are 6 bolts holding the sides of the ring holder together. After removal, the ring simply slips off/on and the process is reversed.

Difficulty Level:

Total Repair Time:
1- 2 hours
Tools:
Nutdriver, Socket set, Wrench set
Parts Used:
704059, 7015152YP, 7015151YP
1 Removed upper belt guard, I removed to snow chute to gain better access to belts
2 Removed bottom cover to access drive control
3 Move gear lever to reverse
4 Remove traction belt, belt is tight so you will have to roll belt off upper pulley, once off pulley pull out through bottom of machine.
5 Remove blower bel t, will have to remove some bolts that hold the belt retainers in place for belt removal, may have to also roll belt off upper pulley to remove, once off remove from the bottom of machine.
6 Now you can install new belts, make sure to install blower belt first then traction belt.
7 When changing drive disc, you can tip the machine up on its auger end, I tipped it up and supported the back end with a jack stand.
8 Now you need to remove the screws that hold the drive disc retainer, mine had five, I used a vise grip to hold the drive wheel from turning when breaking the screws loose.
9 Once all screws are removed the retaining washer should fall off and you can slide the old drive disc off the hub and put on new one, then replace retaining washer and screws and tighten.
10 Replace bottom cover and then set back on wheels.
11 Replace belt cover and snow chute and then start machine and adjust belts as needed
