Screw the Tail Spindle (large extending part) off of the Tail Stock Screw.
Remove handle from tailstock by loosening a set screw.
The Tail Stock Screw is held in place by the C Ring - which you cannot access. The only way to get it out is to take a large, heavy hammer and, using a driving tool such as a thinner
... Read more steel rod, drive the Tail Stock Screw out from the back (handle side).
Put the new Tail Stock Screw, with the C Ring in place, in the tailstock from the front side and drive it back in using the hammer and driving tool. It will extend through - and when it \"clicks\" in place, all you have to do is attach the hand wheel (tighten the set screw) and thread the Spindle onto thte Tail Stock Screw.
Be sure to add dry lubricant before the Spindle goes back into the tailstock - this will keep it smooth and accurate.
