Loosen the set screws in the handwheel. And remove the hand wheel. Remove the wavy washer. Remove the face plate and the center. Loosen the set screw in the pulley in the headstock. I then use a brass rod and started tapping the spindle from the handwheel side. You may have one bearing come off and the pulley will for sure come off. Keep

tapping until it is out completely. If your bearings are okay, you can reuse them. But I replaced mine at this point. Press one bearing on the face plate side of the spindle. Insert the key into the keyway in the spindle and line it up with the key way in the pulley. An extra pair of hands helped at this time. Tap on the face plate end of the spindle with a hammer and a block of wood. Make sure you have the pulley lined up and the v-belt around the pulley. Tighten the set screw to the spindle in the pulley. With a sock the same size of the inner race of the other bearing , tap it into the housing and onto the spindle. Place the wavy washer on the spindle and tighten the set screws of the handwheel on to the spindle. Take it slow and be patient. Good luck!

Watched a youtube video on replacing the bearings in a Jet lathe. Just like replacing a belt, but once the spindle was removed, knocked out the bearings with a dowel and hammer. Replaced the bearings with new ones, replaced the spindle with a new one. Runs true and great. Total cost was about $150, less than a new set of lathe tools.
