Total Repair Time:

Tools:

Using appropriate wrench remove old cable from control handle and thread new cable in brackets where old cable was removed ( note placement of old cable within control handle before detaching.. the inside of the handle contains the 2 squeeze triggers for determining your walking speed) very easy change out simple remove and replace.

Underside repair- Depending on which side the mower is to be turned gas or oil will leak out. remove all dirt and grass and .note position of spring and cable attachment ( take picture with camera ( phone) to help in reassembly ).

1- removed gas from tank and turned mower on side. 2- removed mower blade and belt guards.3- some mowers require removing drive wheels to expose screws holding belt guards as this makes it much easier to remove/replace screws( recommended-only one nut holds the wheel on) 4- remove blade hub if required to relieve belt tension and release tension on axle drive to disconnect old cable ( use screwdriver to push in expandable connector from under mower deck) be sure to note placement of connector to belt guard before removing. don\'t lose spring and reuse.
5- after removing, replace old cable by pushing end of new cable through hole ( end will expand and lock in place. replace spring in former location and connect end of new cable where original was located in belt guard. replace blade hub and belt if removed and reattach all guards in reverse order from disassembly.
6- replace blade and tighten to recommended torque. replace wheels if removed and return mower to upright position. Refill gas tank and check oil for proper level.
7- the top of the cable can be turned by hand to adjust the cable if additional tension is needed for walking speed.

When disassembling, make note of the cable path and donGÇÖt lose the plastic bushing in the handle. Disconnecting of f the cable from underneath took a few minutes due to the tight space. When reassembling make sure to reconnect under the deck first because you need as much slack as you can get to reconnect the z end of the cable. Othe r than that pretty easy. Also you do need a star bit to take apart the drive handle assembly. Two of the screws hold the assembly together without connecting to the bracket if you prefer to keep it together before attaching to the bracket.

1.- Husqvarna AWD has a \"handles box\" which I had to open to be able to remove a broken piece of cable from inside box.
2.- I had to get underneath the mower to remove a black plastic cover and detach the other end of the cable (did not have to remove blades).
3.- Installing the new cable was fairly easy, just went back on the steps.

Removed the drive paddles from the handle. Note the small springs that keeps tension on paddle handles. Cut the zip ties holding cables together. Used long needle nose pliers to compress plastic clip from the underneath of mower deck. The clip holds the cable secure through mower deck. Unhook S shapes hook at end of cable located at the t ransmission. Reverse progress to assemble. Process is very easy if you take note of how it is assembled as you break it all down.

Removed broken cable, replaced it with the new one. Replacement comprises these steps: 1) Unplug the ignition wire from the spark plug; 2) Slowly pull the starter cord until resistance of the compression stroke is felt (indicating the valves are closed; 3) Tip the mower onto it\'s side such that the side with the carburetor and air filter is facing up (muffler side faces down); 4) squeeze the retention tabs on the strain relief grommet where the clutch cable enters the mower deck - wiggle and pull the grommet to release it from the mower deck - requires long-reach pliers to reach the tabs from the underside - pay attention to how the end of the clutch cable fits into the clutch actuator; 5) Use a Torx screwdriver to unscrew the clutch handle assembly from the handlebar, which also opens the body of the assembly, to release the other end of the clutch cable; 6) Install the new clutch cable in reverse order. It may be helpful to lubricate the retention tabs of the strain relief grommet (I used silicone gel) to make it easier to insert it into the hole in the mower deck. Adjust the length of the cable casing by turning the barrel where the clutch cable meets the clutch handle assembly such that the clutch engages when the handle is pulled, and releases when the handle is released.
