This replacement air box cover is a genuine OEM item, it is not an aftermarket imitation. It is specially designed for Poulan and Weed Eater gas powered trimmers. The purpose of this cover is to secure and protect the air filter element which is sold separately. Please note, this plastic air box cover is sold individually. Replacing this part does not require any tools.
Remove the brass choke valve from the choke lever, then pull on lever to remove it. Press the new lever in and then press the choke valve into the new lever. Line up the tabs on the air box cover and snap it in.
Be careful pulling out the old lever, there is a ball on a spring underneath it.
The choke lever actually goes through the air intake of the carburetor. It has a slit that the choke plate goes through. I had to break apart the old lever with a screwdriver in order to remove the choke plate. I pulled the old lever out easily
... Read more with a pliers and inserted the new lever. One thing that I missed was that there is a small metal ball that sits on a spring that presses against the side of the lever to keep it in the selected position. I hadn\'t noticed this when I removed the old lever and the ball fell. Thankfully I was able find it on the floor and put it back into place before inserting the new lever.
