Removed the housing around the chain. Removed the small snap ring over the spring and installed new spring. Reinstalled new pull cord. Hardest part was opening the box the parts came in.
I simply removed the damaged parts while paying attention as to how they were positioned. Then replaced the new parts in reverse order. As for the pull start return spring, the old one was broken so I was unable to determine its original position. Since it can be installed two ways, I figured I had a 50% chance of getting it right the fir
... Read morest time. As luck would have it, I installed it backwards causing the starter rope to recoil in the opposite direction. Once I realized my error, I disassembled it, flipped the spring over, reassembled the recoil mechanism and it all worked well.
