1. Watched several YouTube videos on fixing this problem and started by partially removing the blower case.
2. I replaced the carburetor and checked the spark (good) - still not starting
3. I removed the muffler to check for spark screen blockage, carbon buildup between engine and muffler, and to inspect the piston/ring. I t ried starting it in this condition - still not starting
4. I finally decided that the piston ring might be stuck. I removed the cylinder and the crankcase cover, pulled the piston and rod off the crank shaft, and verified the ring was stuck in the grove with carbon.
5. I tried to free the ring with a utility knife cutting around the ring/grove but I broke the ring when trying to pry it out. Should have spent more time trying to free it.
6. I ordered a replacement ring and spare (in case I broke the first one installing it) and some case screws which missing from ereplacementparts.com.
7. After the parts arrived I sprayed the piston with lubricant and slid the new ring into place. I then sprayed the inside of the cylinder and rod\'s crank bearing with lubricant and reassembled the engine.
8. I reinstalled the blower\'s case, added fuel, and got it to start.
Success! This was my first time doing repair work on a small engine and ereplacementparts.com had what I needed and the order turn around time/price was good.

This Weedeater brand grass trimmer was suffering from old age. I decided to do an external overhaul by replacing the carburetor, fuel tank (with new tubing), and the starter rope even though it was still in serviceable condition.

The salesman (Jamie) and I had a conversation about the carburetor base gasket and he advised me that the gasket was made from \"foam\" and that it would probably need replacing. That gasket was not available separately and only came in an engine overhaul kit. I wanted to make sure I had everything to complete the repair so I purchased the gasket overhaul kit for $8.66.

After receiving the replacement parts and inspecting them to make sure they were the correct, I started the replacement process. As I took the carburetor off of the engine, I saw the gasket which Jamie told me was made of a foam material, but was a very durable asbestos material and did not need replacing. After total disassembly, the new replacement parts were installed without much of an issue.

The engine now starts and runs like new and I expect to use this Weedeater gas trimmer for the next 10 years. Overall, the help provided by Jamie was very professional and the replacement parts arrived within the 5 day time frame for ground shipping.

I have used eReplacementParts previously and will use them again in the future when needed.

First I figured the gas Line replacement and filter.
I did that and still had the same result. I could see the gas was not flowing through the carburator. So then I replaced the carburator and that was it! Starts great every time! One pull. Full power! Thanks!!
