1. Remove deck from mower.
2. Remove safety covers on top of deck and removed the pulleys on the spindles. Note: Take notice of any spacers or washers that are between the pulley and the shaft that could be lost if not noted. Observe their placement and insertion order.

4.Note how the bearings are either recessed or flush mounted into the spindle body for future reference. Drove out old bearings by using small wood dowels to go through the shaft hole to reach the inside of each bearing and striking it with mallet. (note: There are one or two spacer sleeves inside the spindle between the two bearings that support the bearings.)
5. Repeat for each bearing.
6. Clean out spindle shaft of old grease.
7. Using proper replacement bearings, replace top bearings by placing bearing over the bearing receptacle cavity on the spindle body. Use a large socket wrench socket that covers the OUTER bearing race (Striking the inner race will damage the bearing.). Using wood mallet, strike socket and observe the bearing seating into the bearing cavity. Seat bearing as deep as the old bearing was seated as observed earlier at removal.
8. Once both upper (top) bearings are installed, insert the one or two spacers into the spindle body from the mower deck side.
9. Insert the lower bearings the same way as the upper bearings. Note: The spacers should be touching both the insides of both bearings Inner races inside each spindle body.
10. Clean up the spindle shaft with the blade still attached. (Remove and sharpen as necessary.)
11. Place any spacers or washers onto the spindle shaft in the previously noted order. Insert the spindle shaft into the spindle body from the underside of the mower deck until it is fully seated up against the lower bearing and the top of the shaft is protruding out the top.
12. Place any spacers or washers onto the top of the spindle shaft in the previously noted order. Replace the pulley and any fasteners, washers and nuts. Torque to factory specifications.
13. Repeat for the other spindle assembly.
14. Each blade should rotate very smoothly and quietly.
15. If there is a grease zerk on the spindle body, apply grease as needed.
16. Replace deck on mower and enjoy your handy work as you ride around the yard.
