This is a genuine Craftsman part for use with Lawn Tractors. The deflector shield covers the discharge port on the mower deck and directs the grass clippings away from the deck. The most common reason for replacing the chute is if it is broken. This part is sold individually. The tools that you will need to replace the deflector shield is a 1/2" socket, vise-grip pliers, large flat-head screwdriver, 7/16" socket, and a hammer.

For the baffle, remove the bolts and nuts from the old baffle, then install the new baffle with the same nuts and bolts. For the discharge chute, push the straight end of the hinge rod in the bracket just enough to start it in the spring which is inside of the chute, press down on the chute until the hinge rod comes through the other side

Super easy repair. Just took out the pin holding what was left of old deflector, ensured spring was placed correctly when putting new one in its place, then inserted new pin. Done.
