This part is an OEM from Shindaiwa. The gearcase assembly is compatible with several lawn and garden trimmer devices. This item is fastened to the base of the drive shaft assembly, securing the nylon cutter head and other related components. A screwdriver, pair of pliers, wrench set and Allen wrench are often needed for making the replacement. The metal gearcase assembly is sold individually.

Used allen wrench to remove Speed-Feed head then a crescent wrench to remove nut with a screwdriver. Installed new improved gearbox and reinstalled Speed-Feed head. Removed guard shield using allen wrench which allowed the removal of gearcase head. Attached new gearcase by sliding on to shaft and lining up spline to shaft. Finished by reinstalling guard shield.
