This foam prefilter is a genuine Shindaiwa replacement part, it is not an aftermarket imitation. It is supplied by original equipment manufacturer for use on backpack blowers. Its purpose is to provide an extra layer of filtration of the air that goes in the engine. Please note, this foam prefilter is sold individually and the main pleased paper filter is sold separately. Replacing this item is a very simple task that does not require any tools.

Removed all of the broken parts. Then started assembling.
1- Installed the air filter case assembly
2- Deflector plate
3- Air filter
4- Prefilter
5- Air filter cover assembly

Handle broke and had to replace air filter holder.

Handle removed and new one installed. Remove air filter cover and Allen wrench filter holder off then replaced.

Thumb screw fell out. Filters ready for replacement

Unscrewed the one remaining thumbscrew and removed the filter cover. Replaced the missing thumbscrew with the new one and the washer that holds it in place, installed a new air filter then reinstalled the filter cover.
