This is a genuine OEM sourced replacement part designed for use with string trimmers. This item is made out of metal and it is sold individually. It is the upper shaft that is attached to the motor. You would need a screwdriver to replace this item. • Loosen the knob on the coupler of the power head shaft and remove the end cap from the attachment • Push in the button located on the attachment shaft and remove the old boom assembly • Secure the new shaft with the motor • Secure the boom assembly with the coupler and lower shaft

Disconnect motor head at shaft and at joint 20 or so inches down. Order the Upper Drive Shaft and Housing Assembly. Both ends fit in only one way. Change the handle from one shaft to the other. Piece of cake!!!

Unscrewed the part from motor, took the throttle from the shaft. Put the new shaft in place screwed the one in place replaced the throttle. It took about a half hour.

Very simple replacement, the parts were exactly correct and the repair only took 20 minutes, just be careful with the control wires going to the trigger assembly for the accelerator

Took out screws from bottom up. Inserted new upper drive shaft and inserted screws.
If you can turn a screw driver you can replace the upper drive shaft.

Remove the upper driveshaft and housing from the lower drive shaft housing. And put the new upper drive shaft on. Then just by looking at the rest of the parts place them on the new upper drive shaft. Just take your time It is not that hard.

Remove the upper shaft from the engine assembly. And lower shaft assembly. Remove all of the parts from the old shaft assembly and install them on the new one. Being careful to make notes where all of the wiring and small pieces are located. Attach the new shaft assembly back to the engine. Then place the the lower shaft in the coupling.

The air filter assembly did not come with decals for operations and throttle locations. Had to reuse the existing.

All parts were replacement parts and went together easily. I ordered the upper Drive Shaft Assembly and also ordered a new Air Filter Assembly. My only problem was having to remove the existing decals and use double-sided to reattach them to the Filter Assembly.
