This item is a genuine Murray replacement part that has been sourced from the original manufacturer to be used with riding lawnmowers. The metal pulley attaches to the jackshaft and is used to rotate the blades as the belt drivers this pulley. This item is available as an individual replacement part.
I took off decking and spray some penetrating oil on the nut and let it sit for little while came right off.put new parts on works great.and before I put decking back on I greased the bearings its a lot easier.

Rubber in gas tank disintegrated, belt went bad, pulley had flat spot
1. Dropped mowing deck from machine.
2. Removed old belt from mowing deck.
3. Used impact gun to remove retaining bolt from pulley.
4. Installed new pulley and reinstalled retaining bolt with impact gun.
5. Unbolted break assembly and installed new break assembly.
6. Reinstalled mowing deck under machine and

7. Installed new gas cap.
8. Test ran machine.
Replaced jackshaft assembly put blade on before attaching thru deck.. very easy. Replaced pulley for blade belt. Easiest ever.
