My used mower did not have the mulcher plate. I installed the part, along w/ the clip (which fills the holes in the housing above the plate), to regain that feature. The part is easy to install. It clips onto the rod holding the grass chute in place. One weakness is it\'s flimsiness. The plastic could have been a little more dense. In ord ... Read more er to keep the plate in place while cutting, I chose to duct tape across its width to the deck. So far, so good. W/out that tweak, the bottom locking tab works loose and allows clipping to be blown out the opening.

1. Placed closeout clip into slot
2. Put spring on hinge rod
3 Threaded rod through holes on lawnmower housing
4. Snapped discharge guard and mulched plate on rod.
5. Adjusted hinge spring

*Not listed in parts is discharge chute. This is required*
1. Remove any existing hardware.
2. Insert spring in discharge chute. (use photo of craftsman/weed eater mower for reference if mower does not have existing hardware.
3. place chute w/spring over mower discharge area.
