Ignition hot lead was broken and grounding out and stop switch ground strap broken in two.

2- Disconnect spark plug boot
3- Remove recoil starter cover and plastic flywheel/coil module cover
4- Remove hot lead wire from ignition module to coil
5- Re-route new hot lead wire and re-connect
6- Remove stop switch and ground strap screw then ground wire from module to stop switch ... Read more r />7- Install new stop switch with ground strap screw and re-route new ground wire from module to swatch
8-Re-install flywheel/ coil module cover and recoil starter cover
9- Remover spark plug, install boot and ground plug to engine. Pull recoil starter and check plug for spark and switch operation (on =spark; off= no spark)
10- Reinstall spark plug and boot. Re-install top cover
Electrical leads had become dry and brittle

2. Remove air injection shroud underneath the starter.
3. Remove old leads from the coil under the starter, the kill switch, and from the coil in the air box.
4. Inspected kill switch for function. The switch occasionally cracks on the back.
5. Installed new ... Read more leads, routing into the proper holders and securing the rubber grommet at the point where the lead transition from the air box to the flywheel area.
6. Connect the blue and red leads to the appropriate tabs on the coils and kill switch.
7. Re-install the starter cover, slowly using the pull rope handle to align the starter with the palls on the flywheel.
8. Re-install the air filter and top cover.
Saw had a terrible miss.

Unplugged old leads and removed gromet.
Removed old leads from gromet.
Ran new leads through gromet and reinstalled gromet.
Hooked up new leads.
Reinstalled starter cover and recoil cover.
Carb needed rebuild.
