Loosened adjustment bolt, removed retainer, slid turning rod partially out, placed new gear on turning rod, slid turning rod back in place, snapped retainer back on, adjusted and tightened adjustment bolt.

USED PLIERS TO REMOVE WHEEL RETAINERS
REMOVED AXLE AND WHEELS FROM UNIT
INSTALLED ONE NEW WHEEL RETAINER, SLID ONE WHEEL ON AXLE SHAFT, PUSHED AXLE WITH ONE WHEEL INSTALLED THROUGH HOLES IN SNOW BLOWER FRAME, INSTALLED OTHER WHEEL ON AXLE AND FINALLY INSTALLED OTHER RETAINER

Removed old lock caps, and cut apiece of plastic conduit to fit over the wheel shaft .to keep the wheels aligned added washers to keep the space away from sides of unit. replaced the retainer cap and wheels ... works better than new.
