This is an authentic OEM part for use in Toro lawn tractors. The flange nut-lock attaches to the extension spring and the idler pulley. A socket set and a wrench set might be needed during the installation process. It is made of metal and will require replacing if it becomes broken. This part is available as an individual replacement.

1. Removed the deck.
2. Removed the pinion gear and the flange bearing.
3. Replaced gear and bearing and reassembled the steering unit.
4. Centered up the steering wheel and set the steering gear so it would have equal steering when turning the steering wheel from left to right.

3. Installed new shoulder bolt.

Hex flange bearing failed stripping the steering pinion gear.

1.Remove the deck.
2.Remove the pinion gear.
3.Drop the plate above pinion gear to access hex bearing.
4.Install new hex bearing.
5.Reinstall plate.
6.Put the pinion gear on.
7.Reinstall the deck.

Removed the deck and the fuel tank. Disassembled the steering pinion, replaced the bushing and the pinion gear. Reassembled.
