Drive belt Broken, Starter Rope broken, Missing handle bolt and nut, Missing discharge door latch and Tune Up

Richard from Gallipolis, Ohio

1 person found this instruction helpful.
Difficulty Level:
A Bit Difficult
Total Repair Time:
1- 2 hours
Tools:
Screw drivers, Socket set, Wrench set
1. Inserted bolt into the handle and attached nut.
2. Replaced spark plug
3. Installed new discharge door latch
4. Removed old starter rope, installed new starter rope and rewound rope
5. Installed new pull handle on rope
6. Took mower blade off, removed drive belt shield, removed drive wheels, removed pulle y guards and installed the new belt. (This was the most time-consuming part as it required a significant disassembly of the drive unit and lower drive unit to remove the drive belt shield and pulley guards.)
This mower is a 12-year-old Lawn Boy 10656 self-propelled mower. Other than basic maintenance I had never done anything to it. So, for about 2.5 hours of work and the cost of the parts it was a smart fix. It runs like a new mower and saved me at least $350. I was glad to be able to find these parts here at a decent price. I will definitely look here first in the future to find replacement parts.
