Spring/cable for remote wheel engage/disengage broke and wrapped around sliding dog clutch assembly. The spring then scrapped off most of the rubber on the friction wheel.

Repair was difficult but do-able. Replacing the friction wheel is much easier if you can remove the wheel drive axle. Despite my best efforts I could not remove the right wheel. This makes for very little room. I was able to skew the hex shaft for the friction wheel enough to remove it and replace it with the new one. The springs and cabl e were easy enough to replace. Snowblower is back together and waiting for snow. Although it is fixed I will try to refrain from using the wheel disengage feature.
