1. Removed rubber pad that was secured by four screws. (Flat head screwdriver)
2. Removed base by gently pulling the base and the sander apart. Had to wiggle a bit to release the shocks from the base plate slots.
3. Modified replacement base sent by ereplacment (had to cut two plastic tabs, that were not suppose to be on the b ase for the model of my sander. The part fit perfect otherwise. Filed flat.)
4. Lined the four white shocks with their respective slots in the base. Paying close attention to keep the clamp with \"1\" at the front of the sander. I could not attach the base without the modification. I pressed the base and the body together.
5. Reattached the rubber pad with the original screws.
6. Tightened all screws on the body of the sander to reduce noise and unnecessary vibration. (Flathead screw driver)
7. Works perfectly

repair was easy but new part had a piece that was not on my worn part so I had to modify new part by removing two tab like pieces that did not match mine. Once removed (easily) part fit perfect and sander works great with no issues holding 320 grit sandpaper.

remove the 4 screws that hold the rubber pad and the base. pull base from unit , note: this can be a tight fit,but it will separate. Push new base on and replace the rubber pad.IF your pad has holes on it make sure you line the holes with the vent channels on the base then screw the 4 screws back on.
